Jon Pro says:

I get it’s tradition, and not to be disrespectful, but hockey is already a
fast and hard hitting game. This would only motivate me to take their heads
off … luckily for them, they are playing South Africa… If they ever do
this in a friendly vs Canada or the U.S .. i’m pretty sure couple kids
would be carried off in a stretcher.. (not necessarily from an illegal
check or a fight).. but if you’ve ever played hockey, you know it doesn’t
take much to get you pumped up to throw a big hit… This would definitely
motivate the other team to do so.

cord james says:

this is sooo stupid.
leave it to NZ to ruin hockey.
HAKA is a rugby tradition, does not belong in hockey.
so stop ruining our game, canada’s game!

Canuck717 says:

haha this is actually pathetic and does not belong in hockey. I would love
for these morons to do this fucking ritual before a game against Canada,
USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland and crumble up like pussies after getting hit
everytime they touch the puck and lose 20-0 after this pathetic
intimidating bullshit.

Chrisd5341 says:

This is cool and all but so stupid and seems so disrespectful. If I was
south africa I would have just skated away during it. Then fucked them up
on the score board.

armatageshanks06 says:

Canada and New Zealand will never face each other so all the chest beating
that my fellow canadians are doing is pointless. Im just glad to see that
hockey has grown enough to be played in a place like New Zealand

lAmCanad1an says:

The hell did I just watch? No, no, no, this is wrong. Hockey is to up front
and emotional enough for this to be a thing. People preach its tradition
but if they did this to Canada or the States they’d get their faces run
into the ice… It needs to stay in Rugby, Hockey is a different sport,
stuff like this starts shit and comes off as arrogant, “tradition” or not.

Chad Brock says:

This HAKA thing is so tired now, so over used…

Marcelo Azocar says:

Retards, haka is for rugby, get Your own original ideas morons

Andrew Fitzsimmons says:

As a Canadian I apologize for all the comments which say that it is
“stupid” or “ruining hockey” to include the Haka. The Haka is awesome, keep
it up NZ!

Richard Leonard says:

Why stop at hockey, why not at a chess tournament,or before a darts match!
Or how about at your Friday night bowling league. It could be expanded to
non sporting competitions like Price is Right, just before a contestant bids
you throw down a haka,oh the opportunities are endless!
I respect the tradition of the Haka and enjoy seeing the AllBlacks perform
it but I think it has no place in hockey. And if it is intended to
intimidate, well I would be intimidated just having to play the
AllBlacks,but the Haka,unh unh.
I remember seeing the AllBlacks doing it at the Rugby World Cup back in the
90’s and one of the guys on the Scottish team was nose to nose with the
Kiwi player with a bemused look on his face as if to say “Aye are yoo done
yet laddie? ‘Cause when youse are yoor fookin heid’s coming off!”

Towndrunk26er says:

I can already see the tears of laughter running down the faces of the *real*
hockey nations fans if they *people* did this before a game.

brian driver says:

Wow, all the moron haters on here. Leave it to the Canadians /Americans on
here to dis this, just because someone does something different in “there
sport”.

RetroReptar says:

I enjoy the Haka in Rugby. Its different to see it in hockey. I think its
fine. People should realize that playing against South Africa helps here. A
nation that is very familiar with the haka from rugby matchups. This is why
you see them calmly skate arm and arm to the line.

Brandan Christina says:

I would turn around and go sit on the bench as they do this, like
cheerleaders with pompoms… it’s suppose to be an act of intimidation, if
they have no one to perform for its sorta stupid.

Sup Brah says:

leave it to some stupid Canadians to say “this has no place in hockey” etc.
I KNEW there would be at least one comment like this when I watched the
video. and I’m Canadian myself. I thought this was great and I love to see
other countries around the world beginning to play hockey… and I respect
their culture and traditions unlike some ignorant people on here.

cubensis4life says:

This is supposed to be intimidating? Pull off this dance before a match
against a real hockey team (all due respect to South Africa) and see the
can of whoop ass you open. There’s a reason the only dancing on ice is with
Disney and figure skating. NZ should leave this gimmickry to rugby where
they actually dominate.

Brendan Harrison says:

I would make fun of it by acting like a retard.

wildwilllis1 says:

The goalies look pretty funny doing that bird dance thing with there arms
lol

farorewisdom says:

It is The same Haka That The rugby’ team, isn’t it?

Jere Väistö says:

This is great! Can’t wait to see my country playing NZ in a national game.
Hockey needs to get more global! Greetings from Finland :)

Kath Beck says:

Did all that and didn’t fall over? Takes practice

Sal Owns says:

it sounds scarier in an empty arena

Reloaded Gaming says:

Id pay to see them get this close to Team Canada!!! They would get jumped
right on the spot! Lol what a joke

Rob Otwelder says:

Given the way things are going in NZ, soon it won’t be PC to do the Haka
unless you end it with a brown eye. Which I’m actually looking forward to.

kyle cunningham says:

This is the most ridiculous thing I have seen in a hockey arena… This is
straight up embarrassing. Keep this rubbish out of the arena.. What a
joke!!!

David Leblanc says:

fucking nzers shouldnt be playing our game
