This is a good one to watch – close match up throughout!
I’m trying to understand some strategy. At 23:57 the jammer rolls directly
into a pack of opponents. Meanwhile her teammate stands and watches. Why
didn’t the jammer try to go around them while the blocker tried to block
the opponents? These are the champs, so I figure there’s a plan there but
I’m not getting it.
It got each of the women a regular paycheck then… and network tv deal…
and well… everything derby doesnt currently have.

5 players from each team take the track… the person with the star on
their helmet(jammer)will start scoring points on the second pass… however
if a jammer breaks through the pack first without any penalties they will
be called “lead jammer” and will be able to call off the jam first. each
jam is 2 minutes a piece…. thanks for watching and please check out your
local derby team…

i think that roller derby could be just as popular as it was in the late
60’s and early 1970’s if the would do a better job of ‘marketing” the sport
like they do with the WWF Wrestling

well i hope that roller derby does become more popular-i grew up watching
the “Philadelphia Warriors” on TV back in the 1970’s we loved it everybody
watched it on Sunday night at 8PM-we used to like watching the match races
between rival skaters-the TV ratings were high in the Philadelphia area-and
the Philadelphia arena was packed-i think that Philadelphia arena was
called the “Spectrum” back then-good times
asfhlksfaa is exactly how I feel whenever I watch Bonnie play. 🙂
Anyone notice how bratty gotham looks when they point at skaters they think
committed a penalty.
‘Marketing’ WWF style was what ruined roller derby back then. It’s getting
more and more popular now by amazing game play and sportsmanship. Let’s
keep it that way.
