The Peterborough Phantoms Under 18s team took the ardious road trip to Streatham London on the Saturday evening of the 4th Feburary to play an ice hockey match at Streatham’s home rink.  The drive through the heart of London traffic seemed to be worth it as the Peterborough Phantoms under 18s came away with a victorious win against Streatham with a good performance by the team gelling and being in control throughout the full three periods of the game.

A good fair game of hockey with penalties being called on both teams but each team could not take advantage of the extra player.

The Phantoms took charge from the first drop of the puck with the first goal being scored at 1 minute 27 seconds by Joseph Mather, assisted by Jarvis Hunt and Taylor Romeo. The Peterborough team continued to find the back of net two more times finishing the first period 3-0, out shooting Streatham 32 shots to 6 shots.

The second period continued with control and team play, with another 4 goals being scored in Streatham’s net from 25 shots in this period.   Team Captain, Jack Escott, made the first goal this period, assisted by Craig Ellis and Taylor Romeo. The second of the period went to Joe Mather on the back post from a well made pass across the goal from Taylor Romeo with the second assist going to Ryan Winters.  Tom Schofield chipped the puck home from a Bradley Bowering slap pass, assisted by Ryan Winters. The final goal of the period and his first of the season, was scored by Jordan Davey, playing wing, rather than his normal role in D.

Streatham changed their goalie during the second period but Peterborough Phantoms kept on scoring.

Three more goals were scored by Peterborough Phantoms under 18s in the final period. First up was Ryan Winters, finishing well from a Taylor Romeo pass. Taylor went on to get the final two goals and complete his hat trick, his second goal coming from working hard on the back check and going the full length of the ice to beat the keeper.

Man of the Match went to Jarvis Hunt with a goal and assist.
